Burgers, Fries, Cole Slaw - ALL WITH A LITTLE EXTRA Za Za ZING

Yesterday was going to be a simple day for me. Nothing spectacular, nothing Cajun. Just Burger and fries, since I had a taste for a burger. But I could still add just a bit of Za Za Zing to the meal.

--------------------

First up, and most obvious from the photos, Odd sized buns. Actually, no buns at all. Just a couple days earlier, I had made a loaf of bread for my Cajun Superbowl SHRIMP PO'BOYS SANDWICH. I made a second loaf, and was not going to make buns when I could just cut a few slices and make some Texas toast. I added a little of my wife's Cole Slaw and some Sharp white Cheddar Cheese. to Zing the burgers a bit.

--------------------

Next up were the fries. Actually, if you remember reading my post on PLANTAIN FRIES, you will recognise the fries. But, i did ask if plantain chips would be far behind, and once chips were made, how about adding some blues cheese sauce on the top. Well, here they are, and they worked GREAT! I may never make potato french fries again. The chips were fast and easy to cut and make. The cheese sauce is excellent, and the combination did not disappoint AT ALL! I topped the sauce with a little of the Lime Zest/ salt mixture and it was wonderful!

--------------------

And finally, while I was doing all that work, my lovely and talented wife made her favorite Cole slaw recipe. Food processor made fast work of cutting the cabbage up into tiny shreds. She added some mayo, 1/3rd cup milk and her secret ingredient - DILL.

Add it all together, and a simple burger and fries made for a fine little meal!

GOOD EATS

Now, if you read
Sunday's post, you remember that I was nominated for the above award. I listed 6 lies and 1 truth about me. Click on the award to get to Sunday's post to read the "mostly" lies. It is such a fun award, and since each of the lies are just a bit true, I am going to stretch the reveal out for a few days, taking just one of the lies each day and telling the story.

So, the first NOT TRUE statement that I will reveal is that #3 is wrong. Most of the guesses were for this one
, sorry. But, feel free to return to the post and make a comment guessing which is true.

#3 read -
"My brother died in Vietnam". Nah, but, I do remember having 6 year old fantasies about my brother going off to war and planning his funeral when he returns. I was an odd child.

OK, see you tomorrow for the next not truth, and I will reveal which of my 7 stories is true.

  1. The suspense is rising about these untruths....

Now you've got me craving burgers. And I NEVER crave burgers.

But I always crave plantains. And blue cheese sauce. Fantastic combination.

  2. You would love the fries we used to get in Spain at the summer festas - served with real alioli, not the wimpy stuff with egg yolks in it, or worse, garlic mayonnaise, but just garlic and olive oil, melded together to a creamy perfection that makes you sweat... Excuse, must go to the kitchen...
