Praise and Thanks to - SMOKY MOUNTAIN CAFE

Be patient, I have an interesting (not that this one won't be) post coming later today about what I learned about rubs yesterday, BUT... I want to start a new tradition. First, with sincere apologies to the blogging buddies that have been following me, I appreciate your looking in on my site, and I very much am humbled that you have deemed me worthy of being looked in on more than once. It is knowing that you guys are out there that makes this fun.

I love blogging, and I love bloggers. I am not sure why we do it, but it is a labor of love. If any food bloggers are getting rich, let me know how, cause I just don't see it. In fact, if anyone is making above minimum wage for the hours we devote to our blogs, let me know that as well. But what I do see is a terrific supportive collective of food enthusiasts; that always want to read about others successes, how to prevent repeating someone else's failures, and introduce a new way of thinking about food. I see mom's trying to make healthy choices for their families, couples cooking as a unit to add a new quality to their partnerships (it works). I see lovers of a certain cuisine, spreading their gospel. I see recipes I want to try, and recipes I can not imagine why anyone would consider. I see care, effort and thought put into what some would consider the mundane task of putting a meal on the table. Anyone willing to make these efforts regularly deserves praise.

And anyone willing to make those efforts AND wants to regularly drop in on my blog deserves praise from me... And thanks. And so starts a new tradition...

I noticed that just today, SMOKY MOUNTAIN CAFE has chosen to follow me (that little group of photos at the top of the middle column). She is my 33rd follower, the age that Mozart died and sweet Jesus was set free . You can reach her blog by clicking HERE. The blog is run by Katherine, originally from New Orleans, transplanted to eastern Tennessee by Hurricane Katrina. She has a terrific blog. Primarily devoted to family friendly recipes. She does lots of photos, very clear and easy to follow recipes. She has done more dessert postings than anything else, but she also has lots of Cajun Seafood (that's how I found her) and Vegetable recipes.

She has been blogging for 2 years, and has 299 posts. Let me be the first to congratulate her on her next milepost... 300 POSTS! Her body of work is impressive, and she deserves a look. So, Smoky, thanks for taking a look at my site, thanks for wanting to come back and thanks for all the knowledge and inspiration I gain from you. I wish i had an original award, but (forgive me for stealing this photo from your own blog), you deserve your own original star...

  1. I love blogging and meeting people from all over and all kinds. Although I don't put much cooking on my blog, I love to follow the foodies (as you all call yourselves.)
I am older, but I still learn new tricks and techniques. I will check Smoky out too!

  5. Love Katherine. She now lives in my part of the country and I am hoping that she will come and visit me some day. To be displaced requires a new welcoming committee. Y'all are welcome Katherine.

  6. I love Katherine's blog; she was one of the very first I discovered when I was only dreaming about blogging.

I have to agree. There are just so many fine and wonderful people who are bloggers. In and of itself, I think cooking is an act of love and nurturing. Those who choose to blog are expanding their vision and their heart.

  7. Not making money? Really? I make $200 an hour on my blog. (Well, yes....that is in Monopoly money, what's your point? ha ha).

Katherine's blog is awesome! Alexis and I hope to meet up with her and her husband at some point since we're relatively neighbors.
